Hey Neighbors,
I attended the SLVWD board meeting last Thursday and on the agenda was on the Big Basin Water Company (BBWC) infrastructure study project. The proposed reimbursement agreement and work order between BBWC and San Lorenzo Valley Water District (SLVWD) was created to start the process of potential consolidation with an assesment and system design happening first. However it faced criticism, halting immediate progress.
While BBWC's system urgently requires assessment and improvement, concerns arose about SLVWD's capacity to manage this $850,000 grant-funded project alongside its own recovery efforts, which is a reasonable concern. The project aims to address BBWC's emergency operations, water system resilience, and potential consolidation support.
Key concerns included:
1. SLVWD's ability to handle additional responsibilities
2. An unclear project timeline
3. Potential impacts on SLVWD's resources and ongoing recovery
Despite these challenges, there's agreement on the urgency of BBWC's infrastructure needs. The goal is to find a solution that addresses BBWC's requirements without overwhelming SLVWD.
Further discussions are expected to address these concerns and hopefully there will be a path forward. The community awaits a resolution that ensures reliable water service for BBWC customers while considering SLVWD's limitations.
In Community, always.
Christopher
